The $20 outfit challenge is probably one of my favorite videos to watch on YouTube and for the longest time I've been wanting to tackle the challenge myself. I'm not quite sure what the exact rules are but for my rendition on it I decided to only include clothing items and not accessories and shoes. We styled a white blouse that we thrifted last week with a belt that we found at Goodwill. I love the details on both of these items. You probably won't be able to see it clearly from the photos, but the blouse has this very intricate beading and lace along the chest region. I love the symmetry of the neckline which immediately draws your attention. The belt has this alternating leather pattern (suede, matte leather and patent leather) along with a prominent gold buckle. They're both such cool pieces that I can't wait to style in different outfits!

You only live once... make it count!
Believe it or not, this is the first maxi skirt (and only maxi shirt at the moment) that I own. Because I'm so short, I always thought that wearing longer skirts would swallow me up and make me look even shorter than I am. These days, though, I'm less concerned about how clothes looks on me and more concerned about how it makes me feel. I like it and so I'll wear it. It's as simple as that. Because at the end of the day, I'm dressing for myself, and not for anyone else so why would I feel the need to care about how people see me. Whether it looks good on me or not, that's left to one's own interpretation, but one thing's for sure, maxi skirts and crop tops have got to be the most comfortable combination on the planet.

Green is my color!
Annie always says that I get the same colors again and again. But nope, that is not the case. They're different shades of green!
Let's take a look at the one below. For Audrey (the one on the left was what I purchased the other day) looks totally different from Re-fresh Mint (the one on the right). It is a true Tiffany blue whereas Re-fresh Mint is...minty green. :) Anyhoo, I can't wait to wear it next week!
I love green :) I can't help but gravitate to the same shade again and again.
Wearing one of my favorite colors, OPI's Jade is the New Black. Isn't it gorgeous?

DIY Studded Denim Shirt
Stole another one of my mom's denim shirts and studded the collar. I think I might just have an obbession with collars. I find that they are a nice little detail that gives a shirt some personality. I decided to pair the denim shirt with a pleather taupe skirt that I got from forever21 a while back (I think my entire wardrobe might just consist of Forever21 items). Does anyone know how you can wash/clean pleather? I suppose I could just take it to the dry cleaners but for the price that I paid, it's really not worth the trouble. Let me know!

First Time Thrifters
I always get excited watching thrifting videos because people are so insanely creative with the things that they find. I guess to me, thrifting is kind of like a treasure hunt. The more patient and persistent you are, the more gems you end up finding. As fun and exciting as it seems, I always felt a little hesitant to try it out myself. Perhaps I never felt the inspiration to go out and find cool things. Or maybe I'm just confused about how to properly clean thrifted clothing items.
However, as a break away from our usual routines (i.e. going to the mall or going to T.J. Maxx), Van and I decided to give it a try.We went to a thrift store called Last Chance to see if we could score some good purchases. I drive pass this store almost everyday but this was the first time I actually entered the store.
We went into the store without any expectations or obligations. If we found anything, we would consider buying it. If not, then we'd just take it as another experience. More than anything, though, we were just trying to entertain ourselves. And entertaining, it certainly was. We picked out quite a few items, but decided to not buy it knowing that we would probably never wear it. Instead, we did end up purchasing two white blouses (I know, we're always TWINSIES when it comes to shopping). Last Chance was having a buy one get one on all their shirts and so our grand total came up to be around $5.00 for both shirts. We're thinking about possibly doing a $20 outfit challenge which would definitely inspire us to go thrifting more often. But all in all, it is was a fun experience!

Recyling old pieces
One of the main criteria that I use to determine whether or not I should purchase an item, is by asking myself "will I wear this piece more than once?" Because I admit, I'm a very impulsive shopper. I'm one of those people who will purchase a clothing item, and it will never see the light of day. These days, though, I'm reducing my impulsiveness by purchasing mainly staple pieces that I know I'll frequently wear. Things such as denim will never go out of style no matter how many years have passed. It goes to show that denim is such a timeless piece and definitely a wardrobe essential.
